Warm up this season with these recipes from Halladay's Harvest Barn.
Clubb's Variety Store carries over 50 different types of seasonings and mixes from Halladay's Harvest Barn. Here's a few different recipes to try out for this holiday season.
Garlicky Roasted Butternut Squash
3 lbs. butternut squash, halved and seeded
4 Tbsp. unsalted butter
2 Tbsp. Halladay's Scampi Bistro Pasta Seasoning
¼ cup flour
4 cups milk
1 cup heavy cream
1 package no-cook lasagna noodles
3 cups parmesan cheese, finely grated
Preheat oven to 450°F. Brush squash with olive oil; bake until soft, 45-50 minutes. Let cool, scoop out flesh; set aside. Melt butter in large skillet over medium-low heat. Whisk in flour and seasoning; cook for 3 minutes. Whisk in milk until smooth. Simmer until thickened, about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in squash; season with salt and pepper. NOTE: sauce can be made 3 days in advance and refrigerated. Reduce oven to 375°F. Beat cream until medium peaks form; set aside. Grease a 9X13-inch baking dish; spread 1 cup of sauce on bottom and cover with a layer of noodles. Add a layer of sauce and top sprinkle with cheese. Continue to layer until noodles and sauce are gone. Place final layer of noodles on top and cover with cream and remaining cheese. Cover with foil; bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking until top is golden brown, about 10 minutes. Let cool 5 minutes before serving.
Vermont Classic Green Bean Casserole
6 Tbsp. butter, separated
1 onion, halved and sliced
½ lb. breakfast sausage
12 oz. mushrooms, thinly sliced
1 ½ Tbsp. Halladay's Roasted Garlic & Rosemary Seasoning
4 Tbsp. flour
3 cups whole milk
Salt and pepper to taste
1 lb. green beans, cooked
1 ½ cups French's fried onions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Melt 2 Tbsp. of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and sausage. Cook until tender, stirring occasionally. Add mushrooms and Roasted Garlic & Rosemary seasoning, cook until golden. Transfer to a bowl.
In the same skillet, melt remaining 4 Tbsp. of butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook until golden, about 2 minutes. Gradually whisk in milk, then season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 4 minutes.
Combine cooked green beans, sausage and onion mixture, and sauce, in your favorite casserole dish. Bake until hot and bubbly, about 30 minutes. Top with fried onions and heat another 5 minutes.
Apple Crisp
4 cups apples, peeled and sliced
1 stick butter
1 package Halladay's Apple Crisp Mix
Peel, core and slice 4 cups of apples, then place them in to a 9" pie plate. Set aside and make the topping. Cut one stick of butter into small pieces and blend with Halladay's Apple Crisp mix. Crumble topping mixture over apples. Bake at 350°F for approximately 20-30 minutes, or until bubbly and lightly browned.
Make your own light up wall hanging
Make a wall hanging really stand out by adding some firefly lights to it. Clubb's carries a variety of firefly lights to choose from like multicolored, warm, or add a twinkling effect. Here are three different methods you can do to add the lights to your wall hanging.
- Mount your panel to a foam core, like we did, and glue the lights into the pattern you want using hot glue.
- Stretch the panel on stretcher bars and glue the lights from behind.
- Quilt your wall hanging and cut out button holes for the lights. Watch the tutorial for this method by clicking on this link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJimG0uqKII&feature=youtu.be

Remembering Veteran's Day
All Clubb's locations are open today - from 9 AM to 6 PM.
In May of 1915, after the death and burial of his good friend, Alexis Helmer, Medical Officer John McCrae sat on the back of an ambulance and looked out onto the war torn landscape where poppies had blossomed throughout the broken ground. Twenty minutes later McCrae had written "In Flanders Fields."
By December 8, 1915, the poem was published in Punch magazine where it caught the attention of Moina Michael. Michael then wrote a response to the poem titled "We shall keep the faith" and went on to campaign for the poppy to become the Official U.S. National Emblem of Remembrance. Today, it remains an iconic symbol of the sacrifices of our veteran's.
In Flanders Fields
BY JOHN MCCRAE
BY JOHN MCCRAE
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
