Katagami Fabric and Pattern

New today is the the selection from Red Rooster designed exclusively for this pattern. We have patterns for this beautiful wall hanging available at no charge with the purchase of this fabric. An asymmetrical design is used to highlight the graphic style of these prints that are reproductions of antique Japanese paper stencils. Crisp indigo and cream comprise the fabric collection and this wall hanging incorporates deep red for a punch of additional color! This design is easy to cut and sew as it uses simple snowball blocks, framed rectangles of various sizes, half-square-triangle units and a basic pieced ginger jar motif. The circles at the bottom are fused with lightweight fusible web and then machine appliquéd to their background squares using dark red thread.

The sample for the pattern was machine quilted on a home sewing machine using in-the-ditch quilting. In addition, the seam lines were used as guides for continuing stitching throughout other areas of the quilt. The binding was created using the shibori print that is part of the Katagami fabric collection.

We have a sample top in the store pieced by our very own Michelle Clubb.
